As this is the first attempt ever made to publish a history of
the family Kuykendall, there was no foundation to build upon,
no precedent for guidance, and very little material to begin
with. It has been a new work from the outset, and all the data
was yet to be gathered. Coming to the author, as a large part of
the data did, through correspondence, much of which was written
with a pencil, and from people making no literary pretensions,
the manuscript was often dim and difficult to read, and it would
be a miracle if there were not errors in dates and names.
Different persons of the same families or branches often gave
versions that varied considerably from each other.
This is a scanned PDF version of a historically important text from the history of the Western United States.
