Description:
In 1803, a group of intrepid explorers led by Meriwether Lewis ì
and William Clark set off on an daunting mission: to explore and ì
document the vast interior of North America all the way to the ì
Pacific Ocean. In celebration of the bicentennial of this famed ì
expedition, Lewis and Clark from the Rockies to the ì
Pacific takes a unique look at the most challenging, ì
dangerous segment of the expedition's journey: the unexplored ì
territory of the West.
The discoveries of Lewis and Clark revealed to the world the ì
wonders, resources, and Native peoples of what would later be ì
designated "Oregon Country": the Plains, the Rockies, the ì
Columbia River Plateau, and the Northwest Coast.
Beckham's captivating essay includes excerpts from the Lewis and ì
Clark journals. Reynolds's stunning photography provides a ì
glimpse of what the spectacular landscape might have looked like ì
through the eyes of these courageous explorers.
