Book 2 of 3, for Grades 4-6
BOOK 2 is divided into the following 6 sections: Part to
Whole/ Whole to Part; Synonyms and Antonyms; Cause to
Effect/Effect to Cause; Purpose, Use or Function; Degree; and
Grammar and Association. Each section includes a definition of
the relationship featured, an example of the type of analogy, and
3 levels of practice, all including both visual and
interdisciplinary activities: Practice with Choices, Open-ended
Practice, and Create Your Own. The Create-Your-Own portion
provides an opportunity for students to create new analogies that
fit the construct of the section. Extensions, which provide
opportunity for creative word play, are also included. 96 pages.
ABOUT THE SERIES: Understanding and decoding analogies are
skills transferable to reading comprehension, critical thinking,
and creativity. Analogies help students develop the ability to
make and appreciate connections between and among a variety of
stimuli.
