Brittany Gordon's Hug-A-Bear Project

Brittany Gotrdon posing with some of the stuffed animals she collected for her Hug-A-Bear project in 2003.

For the Hug-A-Bear Project (2003), I collected 268 stuffed animals. I gave these stuffed animals to the sheriff’s offices in different counties. I donated to Asotin, Garfield, and Grant Counties.

I collected them by asking people to donate stuffed animals at the Tumbleweed Festival, at the back of my Church, and through an article in my local newspaper. I also had a display in the window of Castlemoyle Books.

I feel good about this project because I was helping the children that were sick, hurt, or scared.

Sheriff Bowles of Garfield County (where I live) wrote a nice letter asking people to help me collect stuffed animals and blankets.

Brittany is donating part of her Hug-A-Bears to Asotin County Sheriff Wayne Weber.
I am with Asotin County Sheriff Wayne Weber. The stuffed animals and blankets I donated to his department are given to children who are in stressful situations.

Sheriff Bowles wrote me another nice letter when my Hug-a-Bear project was finished.
