Brittany Ann Gordon, nine year old daughter of John Gordon and Beverly Adams-Gordon, recently competed in the 2003 National American Miss Jr. Pre-Teen Miss Washington Pageant in Seattle. Brittany was a state finalist in the pageant at which she competed with 98 other young ladies ages seven to nine from around the state. She earned a number of awards and trophies including The Spirit of America trophy, a ribbon and a pin for Outstanding Volunteer Service for which she was recognized for her work collecting stuffed animals for the Hug-A-Bear project. (The animals go to regional Sheriffs, fire departments and hospitals for use with children in Trauma situations. She collected 187 animals.)
Brittany earned another ribbon and a rhinestone pin for placing in the Top 10 in the talent portion of the pageant. She played Over the Rainbow on the piano wearing a "Dorothy Costume" she made. She also won a Portfolio Award plaque and a Photogenic ribbon as well as a ribbon for the Most Recommendations.
Finally she won the first place trophy for her art entry. Each girl was given the same art assignment of creating a collage which described herself.
According to Beverly Adams-Gordon the week-end was a lot of fun and very educational. "All of the girls and moms were just wonderful. The pageant coordinators were very supportive of every child and very organized. The weather was perfect and Britt got in lots of time at the hotel pool. She had a great time getting to know and playing with the other girls."
