Lear, Limericks, &
Literature This literature unit study, created by
Beverly L. Adams-Gordon, introduces your students to the zany rhymes made
famous by Edward Lear in the late 1800s. The lessons use limericks to
introduce a number of basic poetic devices. Understanding and using these
devices can improve the student's general and creative writing. They also
serve as models for teaching the disciplined, systematic art of limerick
and poetry writing. Adaptable for students in kindergarten through college
levels, highly recommended for grades 5 through 8th. While completing this unit-study your students will:

| About
the author:
Beverly L. Adams-Gordon is a veteran home educator. She has actively home educated her three daughters for over 13 years. Her older daughters were graduated in 1992 and 1994. Her youngest daughter began kindergarten at home in 1999. In addition to home schooling, Adams-Gordon has eight years experience teaching in classrooms and working as a home school supervisory teacher, home education consultant, and administrator of achievement tests and non-test assessments. She is a popular speaker at home education conferences throughout the United States and Canada.
